Sell for More News: New concept lets shoppers touch products sold online

Sell for More News is a weekly blog series with interesting information from the world of commercial real estate.

Shopping online can be tricky.  Sometimes you just need to touch an item.  You need to see it up close with your own eyes.  A new concept called Tangible is trying to help.

Tangible is a 300 SF common area installation with see-through walls.  Each interior section features a different participating brand.

And Tangible does not stock inventory for sale.  It’s a showroom for moderately priced products sold by a curated selection of e-commerce brands. Each brand is featured on a short-term, rotational basis of 3-6 months at a time.

To make a purchase on-site, shoppers may use computer tablets to view the Tangible website — which contains information about the brands and their products and also redirects users to the brand websites, where they can place an order.

Tangible is designed to introduce shoppers to new brands. Landlords should love the concept because the regularly changing brand lineup encourages repeat visits.

The participant brands can build greater awareness, forge an experiential connection with shoppers, generate additional web traffic and sales and beta test new markets — all with a minimal investment of time and money.

Tangible is still in its pilot phase, but look for this concept and others like it at a retail center near you.
